This is not mine. On my last Camino there was a guy with an incredible voice from Northern Ireland. His name was Ryan and he often sang variations of this song as he passed me on the mountain trails. I found it haunting and wrote it down as best I could.
How green is my valley
How blessed is my day
For I’ve had you beside me
To walk on the Way.
I’ve wanted to tell you
I’ve wanted to say
Your smiles and your laughter
They brighten my day.
For the road goes before us
The rooster does sing
And we never will know
What tomorrow may bring
Yet how green were my valleys
How blessed were my days
For my mates were beside me
To walk on the Way.
